Nursing Care Contribution
Residents of care homes with nursing facilities (not just residential) may qualify for additional assistance from the NHS. This is called the Nursing Care Contribution and up to 1st October 2007 was in three bands, but after that date has been simplified to just one band at £101.00 per week. This is paid direct to the care provider and should mean that the resident’s care bill is reduced. However it is at their discretion and some providers claim they require the extra for the additional care required. It is best to confirm the situation with the appropriate care provider.
